Oasis Camel Park
Located in Halesworth, Oasis Camel Park is the only place in the UK where you can get up close and personal with camels, so a visit here is truly a one off experience. But it’s not just camels at Oasis, as donkeys, alpacas, llamas and lots of other friendly creatures live here too. With discounts on family tickets and special experience on offer including camel rides and opportunities to meet meerkats and lemurs up close, Oasis Camel Park is fun for all the family and offers everyone a rare experience that could make your holiday truly memorable.
Southwold Maize Maze
Another family favourite, the Southwold Maize Maze is the ideal way to let the kids run around and let off some steam. Aside from two mazes, the family park offers fun in many forms, including go-karts, tractor rides, a zip line and much, much more. Set in the Suffolk countryside, adults can sit in the cafe and take in views of the Maze’s gorgeous green surroundings whilst enjoying a hot cup of coffee and a range of tasty treats, including their brand-new stone-baked pizzas. The Maze does change its opening times throughout the year, so visitors are advised to check their website ahead of time.
Aldeburgh Cinema
On any British holiday, it’s always a safe bet to have something planned for a rainy day and this is where Aldeburgh Cinema can help. Set in an unassuming timber-framed historic building, Aldeburgh Cinema doesn’t look like your typical picturehouse, but that’s because it has an untypical history. Opened in 1919, the cinema has been bringing the joy of cinema to the people of Suffolk for over a hundred years and is still going strong. The cinema runs on charity donations, so a trip to catch the latest blockbuster here will be much appreciated and no doubt a viewing experience like no other.
Dedham Valley
This Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in South Suffolk is a hit with everyone who visits. Its landscape has been immortalised in the many paintings of John Constable, who was a regular visitor and arguably epitomises the English pastoral countryside. There are over 180 kilometres of public rights of way across the Dedham Valley for you to walk through, but please respect the countryside code when you visit. Organisers also asked that visitors plan which village you are coming into the AONB via well in advance, as the Dedham valley itself is very large. We have a number of holiday cottages in Sudbury, which is part of the Dedham Valley, so you might want to check them out if this idyllic part of the world seems like somewhere you want to explore.
The Nutshell Pub
If you’re staying in one of our Bury St Edmund’s cottages, then you have to visit The Nutshell. Self-proclaimed as Britain’s smallest pub, this tiny alehouse actually started its life as a fruit stall and later a museum of curiosities in the nineteenth century. Today, the pub still contains a marvellous collection of oddities, including the corpse of a cat that swings above the bar - not one for the squeamish! Still a very lively and popular bar, The Nutshell is well worth popping into for a truly unusual pint.
