North Sands beach is one of the nicest, most secluded coastal spots on the South Devon coast. Located just a short walk from the centre of Salcombe, North Sands is one of the town’s best beaches by far and has the added bonus of being dog-friendly all year round! Visiting North Sands  

The main thing to note before heading down to North Sands beach is that it becomes totally submerged during high tide, so be sure to check tide time before you visit. During low tide, however, North Sands’ beautiful sandy shores are revealed, alongside a collection of rockpools perfect for a few hours of exploration.  

Once you’ve worked up an appetite paddling in the waves, or playing with the dog, be sure to head to the beach cafe, The Winking Prawn. Everyone raves about their staple prawn and crab sandwiches, which seafood lovers have to try. They also offer a range of vegetarian options and have a great children’s menu. In the late afternoon, they often put on a barbecue and serve a range of alcoholic and soft drinks for you to enjoy in the afternoon Salcombe sun. 

South Sands beach is North Sands’ neighbour and is roughly a ten minute walk away and is equally lovely.
