Dog Friendly Cottages in Northumberland
At Original Cottages, we believe that no family member should be left behind on holiday, and that includes the ones with four legs! Our dog-friendly cottages in Northumberland cater for one to four pets and we couldn’t think of a more appropriate region to take your pup on an adventure. With a national park, multiple Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a 39 mile long coastline, both you and your dog will be simply spoilt for choice when it comes to daily walks and trips out.
Bringing your pooch along doesn’t mean you have to compromise on quality either. In fact, a large portion of our luxury cottages in Northumberland are deemed dog-friendly, meaning both you and your canine companion can holiday in style. Whether you’re looking for an open fire, a place with an interior to die for, or somewhere you can take your cossie and get into a hot tub or pool, our dog-friendly luxury properties in Northumberland offer it all and so much more.
Our dog-friendly cottages on the Northumberland Coast are perfect for dogs who love to get their paws sandy. Across the Northumbrian coastline are a multitude of dog-friendly beaches and businesses. Amble and Warkworth is fast becoming a favoured holiday destination, but still retains a sense of peace and tranquility that can be hard to find in more touristy areas. Warkworth is a picturesque medieval town packed with a whole host of dog-friendly eateries, including Bertram’s Cafe and The Masons Arms, two of our favourite local spots.
The majority of Northumberland’s beaches are dog-friendly between October and April every year, with some restrictions applying to protect wildlife in the summer months. There are no restrictions on dogs at any time on Alnmouth Beach, Craster Beach, Druridge Bay, Seahouses Beach, Beadnell Bay and Bamburgh Castle Beach – and we have cottages near them all!
Our dog-friendly cottages in the Northumberland Countryside are in ample position for climbing some of the region’s most famous hills and roaming the bracing northern country. The Northumberland National Park is 405 square miles of impressive peaks and rich history. Covering areas of Hadrian’s Wall, Northumberland’s Roman past is interwoven with its natural landscape in the park. We highly recommend a trip to Sycamore Gap, the most photographed landmark in the park and the site of multiple Roman excavations. Dogs are welcome across Hadrian’s Wall and a stay in one of our cottages in Wooler and Cheviots, or Rothbury and Coquetdale put you in the heart of the national park.
We have so many dog-friendly recommendations in the area that it would be hard to list them all here, but you can read more across our Northumberland Travel Guide. For now, scroll through our handpicked collection of cottages below and find your next getaway today.
