If you’re someone who loves to discover the heritage of Britain then this competition is for you. In conjunction with our friends at Aspall, cyder producers since 1728, we’re giving away a week’s stay for four people in a beautiful cottage in the North Yorkshire town of Whitby.

The Secret Garden is a four star cottage nestled on the eastern edge of the town, just a few paces away from the famous stone cobbles of Church Street. It’s a property on three floors, with two bedrooms, a lounge/diner, living room and bathroom. It has a modern feel throughout and is the perfect base to explore Whitby and the surrounding area.

And what a place to explore! The fishing town of Whitby is on the North Yorkshire and Cleveland Heritage Coast, a 36 mile long stretch of coastline that’s full of history. You’ve got the ancient town of Ravenscar with its Roman signal station a few miles away, a steam train still chuffs its way between Whitby and Pickering, and high up on the cliff is the ruin of Whitby Abbey, one of the most picturesque sights in Britain.

After an enjoyable day exploring the heritage of the area you can return to your cottage, sit in the garden and breathe in the sea air while enjoying a glass of Aspall’s finest.
