Rose Cottage in Elterwater is in a fantastic spot, located right in the heart of a beautiful Lake District village. You can see the local pub, The Britannia Inn, as you step out of Rose Cottage’s front door so you don’t need to worry about trying to get home after a few pints. As a guest of The Good Life Cottage Company you benefit from 10% discount at the Britannia (just show your key fob before you ask for the bill). Other pubs close by are Wainwrights, Three Shires and Talbot Bar.

The local Co-op shop in the village of Chapel Stile is a 10 – 15 minute walk from Rose Cottage, this is crammed full of groceries and souvenirs. There are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants in Grasmere and Ambleside. Both of these small towns are approximately a 10 minute drive away.

There’s a huge choice of walks from the doorstep of this beautiful holiday cottage, you can enjoy waterfalls & tarns, fells & views or magical woodland & forests; all within easy reach of Rose Cottage. There’s maps and books in the cottage which are a must to study over coffee and breakfast before you head out!

Rose Cottage itself provides everything you could wish for on your holiday in the Lake District. The cottage is traditional in style, but don’t let that “Chocolate Box” exterior fool you as this self catering holiday cottage in Elterwater offers everything you need for a comfortable stay. Allen and Jo, owners of Rose Cottage, have lovingly improved the interior and if you’ve stayed before you’ll now see signs of their work throughout the property.

As you enter Rose Cottage the comfortable lounge with recently replaced carpet, curtains and sofas offers comfort as you sit around the open fire playing games, reading or enjoying the Sky package on TV. The kitchen is very well equipped and the dining table provides lots of space to enjoy family meals together. The new carpet continues upstairs, where you will find a twin and double bedroom, both overlooking the village bowling green. Both bedrooms have storage and some lovely touches to give you the “home from home” feeling. Make sure you admire the local art and map of the area hanging in Rose Cottage too.

Off the double bedroom is a recently fitted en suite shower room and family bathroom (also recently replaced) with shower over bath is just down the hallway. Both rooms have been fitted with high quality fixtures which are complimented by stylish tiles, flooring and mirrors. You certainly can lie back and relax in the Rose Cottage bathroom after a day out exploring the area!

Outside Rose Cottage is an enclosed patio area and private seating, to the front of the property. To the rear of the property is a garden area with lawn and flower beds. We welcome dogs at Rose Cottage, so the rear garden is a great place for a ball game with your pooch (please note it is not fully enclosed). Parking for one car is next to the rear garden, this can be accessed from the street and through a gate way, around the side of the neighbouring property.
