Cottages in Llanrwst
Deep in the Conwy valley on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park, betwixt Betws-y-Coed and Llandudno, lies Llanrwst. The perfect base for exploring Snowdonia and North Wales.
Built up and developed around the wool trade, before becoming the centre of harp and clock manufacturing, Llanwrst is now a centre of tourism, being the perfect base for adventurers heading up Mount Snowdon, into Snowdonia National Park or off to Conwy to explore its fine castle.
One of Llanrwst’s most iconic sights is the three arched bridge which crosses the clear, frothy, flowing waters of the River Conwy. Since the 16th Century it has been taking pedestrians and vehicles safely across the waters, from East to West and to what is now known as the Tu Hwnt I’r Bont; a stunning and iconic 15th Century tearoom. The town of Llanrwst is not short of history, and you will easily satiate any budding historian. Treasures include a weighty stone coffin said to have been that of Llywelyn the Great, the revered 13th Century, Prince of Gwynedd, found in Gwydir Chapel, St Grswt’s Church.
For those who enjoy a little exploration, then a venture into Gwydyr Forest, is a worthwhile activity. This lovely woodland is latticed with numerous trails for all abilities and offers waymarked paths from mountain lakes to industrial heritage sites. If you’re feeling more energetic you can continue your hike through the forests and discover two less visited lakes, Llyn Geirionydd and Llyn Crafnant. For quieter days, spend your time popping into Llanwrst’s collection of individual shops, cafes, restaurants and curios.
From cosy bothies to stone farmhouses and picturesque cottages, our selection of properties in this wild and stunning corner of Wales offers the ideal opportunity for a countryside getaway. Escape the rat race and plug into nature.
