Description
Sunset or sunrise, take your pick of the views - out to sea, or over the marshes. This is a place for contemplation, for peace. Live as if you’re in the pages of an interiors magazine. Heaven on earth.
Award-winning architecture
Stylistic touches subtly woo you as you walk around this extraordinary, newly built holiday cottage. Designed and built by the owners, an architect and his wife in 2012, you’ll know you’re in a truly unique location the moment you arrive. The Perch has been awarded an LABC Building Excellence Award for outstanding construction and workmanship and is featured in Homes By The Sea on Channel 4.
The Perch is the perfect name for this wonderful place, with its staggering views stretching out in every direction. To the front, you’ll gaze over the dunes, venture up to the first floor balcony for panoramic views of the sea. And to the rear you’ll enjoy stunning vistas across the marshes, the town, the River Blyth and Walberswick. Every angle of this house has been thought through.
Your gorgeous kitchen oozes cool calm with its stunning worktop and grey cupboards, given a zing of colour with carefully placed crockery and accessories. Enjoy the splendid view of the marshes from the spacious sitting room with its squishy sofas and carefully placed decor. Light the award-winning open flame CVO gas fire on a cool evening. When the weather is clear and bright, push back the huge glazed doors which span the entire width of the sitting room and set out to the large raised deck. Dining al fresco here in summer or winter is pure bliss.
The garden is a gorgeous floral and gravel courtyard. A perfect spot to enjoying a glass of something cold and revive your senses.
Southwold is a simply perfect location for a holiday, with a fabulous array of independent shops, a greengrocers, deli, restaurants and pubs. The gorgeous beach is also complemented by Southwold Denes - a must for walkers and nature lovers. The area is also renowned for its surfing, windsurfing and fishing.
Bedrooms and bathrooms
A large, lofty bedroom fills most of the first floor and is flooded with light thanks to skylights and large windows - enjoy magnificent sunsets from your rear bay window seat, or watch the waves from the adjoining beach-facing balcony. Downstairs, a second bedroom also boasts a large bay with window seats, a king size bed and the benefit of the morning sun streaming through the venetian blinds. Both the upstairs en-suite and the ground floor bathroom are stylish in white and have refreshing power-showers - perfect after a day in the sun.
Cooking and dining
Ultra-cool white floors and steely grey kitchen appliances add an urban sophistication to the opulent, open plan living, dining and kitchen areas, while freshly-coloured soft furnishings and original artwork add to the property's style credentials. Fold back the glass doors to bring the outside in and enjoy food or a drink al fresco on the large deck that overlooks the garden.
Outside
Boasting superb views across the Common to the Edwardian townhouses that epitomise Southwold, The Perch is within walking distance, too, of the bustling Blackshore harbour. But the true beauty of this holiday hideaway is its proximity to the beach - take just a few steps across the dunes for an energising dip, or enjoy the sounds of the seashore from your first-floor balcony. To the rear of the property, steps lead down from a decked area to a seaside-style garden with expansive marsh vistas.
Practicalities
Awarded for outstanding construction and workmanship, this is a holiday home where all your whims are catered for. Wi-Fi, Smart TV, open flame gas fire and an extensively-equipped kitchen provide the ultimate in entertainment and easy living, and free parking is available close by. Please be aware there are original artworks within the property therefore care should be taken at all times.
Please Note: Regrettably, this is an 'adults only' property due to the different exterior levels and marshland.
