Visiting Felixstowe 

There are a great number of things to do in Felixstowe, from days out on the beach, to amusement arcades, some great grub and breathtaking coastal walks. Nature fans will be pleased to hear that there are a number of great nature trails in and around Felixstowe, one of the most popular being the route around Landguard Peninsula. Not only is this southerly point of Felixstowe a beauty spot, but it also has a rich maritime history dating back to the Tudor period. Landguard Fort and Musuem is where you’ll find out all about this and the area’s strategic importance throughout the ages. 

Surrounding the museum is Landguard Nature Reserve, home to a variety of bird species which can be viewed from the Landguard Bird Observatory. Further down from the fort is another viewing point, the John Bradfield Viewing Area, where you can take in views of Harwich harbour and the world-famous port of Felixstowe.  

Felixstowe town centre is where you’ll find all the fun of the fair! Felixstowe pier is adorned with amusement arcades and cafes. Highlights include Lorenzo’s Ice Cream Bar and the fish and chip shop, where you can pick up a chippy tea to enjoy as you stroll down the windy pier. 

Across Felixstowe, there are a number of great places to eat and drink. We particularly recommend the Greenhouse Cafe for vegetarians and vegans, whilst Steak and Lobster Co provides specialty meat and seafood dishes that are bound to set tongues wagging! 

Finally, of course, there’s Felixstowe’s beaches. The North Beach is known as a local wild swimming hot spot and is perfect for adventurous souls who like to start the day with a bracing dip in the sea, while South Beach is a Blue Flag beach perfect for a family day out enjoying the sea and sun.
