Cumbria Home from Home Fund

In 2021 the Original Cottages family donated £20,000 to the UK Community Foundation. They are the membership body for a number of foundations throughout the UK which support their local communities, and we're pleased to say that now there is the opportunity for you to get involved too.

The Cumbria Community Foundation have shared news of an exciting campaign they’re running, The Cumbria Home from Home Fund, which relies on the support and generosity of holiday homeowners from across Cumbria.

The Cumbria Home from Home Fund will be managed by Cumbria Community Foundation, the Foundation will be working in and around the Lake District with organisations who have a proven track record in addressing poverty and inequality.  The projects that the fund will support range from employment initiatives linking people with jobs, to activities designed to encourage people with disabilities to access the outdoors.  There is no other organisation in Cumbria that has the knowledge, passion, expertise and ability to move quickly and direct the money to areas most in need.

We recognise that holiday homes come in all shapes and sizes, and so to ensure that the fund can help as many of the projects that need support as possible, the Cumbria Community Foundation are suggesting an annual donation equivalent to a week’s rent or £500 minimum to the Cumbria Home from Home Fund.

By contributing to the fund, you will be automatically enrolled into the Cumbria Club, a UK-wide group of people who love and care about the Lake District and Cumbria. And that's not all, you'll also receive a window sticker to display in your property, and newsletters updating you on how the fund is helping local communities. You'll also receive invitations to the Foundation’s events, where you'll have the opportunity to hear first-hand from beneficiaries of the fund about how it has had a positive impact on their lives.
