Things to Do in the Alnmouth Area

We aren’t exaggerating when we say the Alnmouth area is one of the most beautiful in Northumberland. In fact, Alnmouth was rated as among the “20 most beautiful villages in the UK and Ireland” by Conde Nast Traveler in 2020. Here you’ll marvel at the colourful houses line the streets, and the local beach which is equally picturesque. Alnmouth Beach is easily accessible with a car park right on the sea front and is perfect for a walk, picnic or a paddle in the sea.

St Cuthbert's Cross on the steep Church Hill, is one of Northumberland’s stand-out sights. It lies on the other side of the estuary, and can be seen from Alnmouth Beach. Alternatively, if you travel a little further south to Buston Links Beach, you can reach the cross itself by foot. Due to no car access this beach is often deserted, so if you fancy it, prepare for a 15 minute walk onto the sand dunes.
