Rhayader, a busy and historic market town lies in the very heart of Wales in the beautiful Upper Wye Valley. The name Rhayader is taken from the Welsh “Rhaeadr Gwy” meaning Waterfall on the Wye. Little remains of the waterfall today but it was once described as a 'miniature Niagra Falls'. The Wye Valley is a unique resource for many sporting activities some of which include canoeing, rafting, fishing and even bird watching. With scenic spots aplenty, why not pack a picnic and enjoy the tranquility of the Wye Valley whilst watching the wildlife. Speaking of gorgeous surroundings, The Elan Valley is the perfect place to start. The beautiful unspoilt views of the dams and reservoirs, Victorian buildings and railways create a wonderful living landscape. A visit to Rhayader is the perfect location for a family holiday, romantic getaway or short break.
