Whitstable is a popular fishing village and is famous for its native oysters, which are available all year round. The Lobster Shack is the perfect spot to try these local delicacies, as it is situated directly on the beach and was once an oyster grading house. Annually, the Whitstable Oyster Festival takes place over a weekend during July, followed by Whitstable Harbour Day, a great day of family entertainment. If this doesn’t take your fancy, you can always simply take a visit to the beach, the harbour or the town's charming markets. 

Slightly further afield The Crab and Winkle way is a charming trail running between the City of Canterbury and Whitstable that is popular with both walkers and cyclists. It can be a challenging excursion, but you will be rewarded with simply breath-taking views from the top of rolling hills. Alternatively, why not drive over to the city and visit the city’s iconic Cathedral and charming local shops, hotels and restaurants. 

As Whitstable is only an hour and a half’s journey from London, it is also the perfect destination for a short break from the city. But however long you choose to stay here, we are sure you will fall in love with this amazing coastal spot.
