In the South Hams area, we have a range of self-catering retreats in Blackawton, Dartmouth and Totnes further up the river. While Dartmouth is a firm family favourite, with a historic castle, vibrant town centre and some of the best food in Devon, Blackawton is smaller but equally charming. Very much a community-focused area, the annual Blackawton Wormcharming Festival happens in May every year and is truly a spectacle. Aside from waiting to see if the worms will come out, the event is a brilliant village event full of food, fun and games, making May a great time to visit this quaint English village. Totnes is equally charming and is known as one of Devon’s most artsy and unique towns, with lots of art galleries, independent shops and pubs and restaurants. 

Our cottages in Yelverton are wonderfully secluded but within walking distance of the village’s shops and pubs. The Burrator Reservoir is one of Devon’s most beautiful water spots and just so happens to be in Yelverton. It’s a great spot to enjoy a refreshing stroll or to start a long walk into Dartmoor, which is just a few miles away. Drewsteignton is also incredibly close to the park and is a gorgeous ancient village. The Old Inn in Drewsteignton is a gourmet restaurant perfect for a special occasion. 

Combe-Raleigh-Nr-Honiton in the Blackdown Hills is another picturesque remote spot where we have a number of special country cottages.
