Cottages in South East Cornwall

South East Cornwall is easily one of the most picturesque spots in the South West. With a large stretch of coastline, Bodmin Moor, the Tamar Valley and some truly beautiful rivers and harbours, South East Cornwall is lovely in all senses of the word. We have hundreds of holiday cottages for you to choose from in popular areas such as Fowey, Looe and Bodmin Moor, as well as hidden gems such as Polruan and Portwrinkle.

When it comes to the cottages themselves, we certainly have one thing to offer: variety. From coastal apartments for two, to large detached homes big enough for everyone and the kitchen sink, we offer it here. A number of our dog-friendly cottages in Cornwall are located in the South East, including many of our by-the-sea properties. Looe is a particularly dog-friendly part of the south-east coast, as the beach is open to dogs all year round. We also have some spectacular luxury villas in South East Cornwall, complete with outdoor hot tubs, private gardens and unrivalled views of the iconic cliffside vistas of Fowey and surrounding areas.

Many of our coastal cottages in Cornwall are located in Looe, a true gem of the South East. We’ve already touched on how dog-friendly Looe is, but there’s plenty going on for humans too. The Banjo Pier on the east side of the beach is a truly unique architectural feature of the town, but it’s also a great place to promenade along and take in the fresh Cornish sea air and stunning sea views. Aside from the gorgeous beach, Looe Monkey Sanctuary is also a great day out, particularly if you have any animal lovers with you!

Fowey is another iconic spot on the South East coast and the image of its hillside and clifftop houses stacked above each other, looking down onto the blue river mouth with its many sailboats and yachts, has become synonymous with Cornwall. You can stay in your very own hillside house when you book a cottage in Fowey with us and many of our holiday homes here boast the very same view we just mentioned. There’s plenty of local amenities and attractions in Fowey, but one of our local favourites has to be Captain Hank’s Crab and Snack Shack, a converted van on the riverside that sells the freshest food and the most refreshing drinks. Just across the way from Fowey lies the much quieter village of Polruan, where we also have a number of holiday cottages. Polruan is a maze of narrow streets lined with pretty houses and has only a few shops, making it perfect for those seeking a bit of R&R. There is also a passenger ferry that runs between the two places every day until 11pm, should you wish to visit either side at any point on your trip.

Turning further inland, we also have cottages located in and near to the mystical Bodmin Moor. Steeped in myths and urban legends, as well as history and a secure reputation as one of the UK’s Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Bodmin Moor is a great place for those who love the South West countryside. An easy way to think about navigating Bodmin is to use the A30 road as your guide. To the north of the road you will find many of the moor’s iconic Tors, including its highest peak, Rough Tor. To the south you’ll find many more of Bodmin’s highlights, including Siblyback Lake (a great spot for watersports) and Dozmary Pool, where it is believed King Arthur’s sword, the Excalibar, is still located.

There’s so much more to say about South East Cornwall, including the fact that the region’s biggest attraction, The Eden Project is here, but the best way to find more out is to come stay here yourself!
